Medieval Elephant Encounter

212514934_120_120

This story does not fall under the category of a ghost hunt, however, it shows that we don’t need to be looking for paranormal or unusual activity in order for it to find us.

I denied my initial conclusions after I saw the photos.

I wasn’t going to document what I thought had happened, but I started seeing too many signs that convinced me to write this post.

I believe the Lady Essex wanted us to hear her story.

Capture

I attended my first Renaissance Festival with my family and I had a wonderful time. I was able to wear my new cape and I was totally immersed in the role of being in the medieval times.

As we toured the Festival, I was surprised to find elephant rides! I’ve never ridden an elephant, so this was a unique opportunity.

RenFest8

The elephant’s name was Lady Essex. As soon as I was seated on her, I felt an overwhelming sadness. It was almost unbearable. I tried to smile and be happy because I was thrilled with the experience, but it was extremely difficult.

I had to fight against the grief because I could sense her emptiness.

Elephants, especially female elephants, are herd animals and they form deep family bonds. It has been proven that elephants experience emotions such as grief, joy and anger. Elephants are depressed when they’re not with other elephants.

I could feel that Lady Essex was not abused – she was just incredibly lonely for her own kind.

RenFest9

Lady Essex turned to give us a wonderful pose!

I silently thanked this beautiful Lady for the ride and I told her I was sad because she wasn’t with other elephants.

I sent her love and left with mixed feelings about the ride.

Later, when I reviewed the photos, there were two pictures with bright Orbs. One huge Orb was right on me.

RenFest2

Look at that huge Orb on me!

I know it was Lady Essex thanking me for caring and for telling her story.

Knightly Spirits of Malbork Castle

Malbork-Castle

Malbork Castle, Poland

I had the opportunity to do my first International Ghost Hunt…

…in Poland!

I toured Malbork Castle, home of the famous Teutonic Knights.

Not former home.

There are still Knights in residence at Malbork Castle, along with many other Castle Spirits.

I had one of the strongest visions that I’ve ever had the moment I approached the first Castle gate.

2014-09-12 17.31.05

Malbork Castle Gate

I felt suspended in time.

The present slipped away as the people near me disappeared and I was surrounded by Knights on horseback.

The Knights were returning to the Castle, entering the main gate, as I was.

Knights

Teutonic Knights

There were four lead Knights on horseback and I was between them with two Knights on either side of me.

I felt small as I walked between them, but I never felt threatened.

I could feel the dirt being kicked up by the horses and the Knights were so close that I could hear the rustle of their clothing and the clanking of their armor.

There was a company of ancient travelers behind me.

As the realization dawned on me that I had been transported to another time and I was surrounded by ancient Knights, I was in awe.

I stopped walking to gather myself and as I absorbed this new reality, the vision disappeared.

The Knights let me know, before I even entered the castle, that they were still very much in residence at Malbork.

Knight Graves

Malbork Knight Graves

Later, I had a vision of an ancient tomb.

A body was lovingly wrapped in armor and placed in the tomb. A large stone slab covered the revered Knight. There were carvings and ornamentations on top of the tomb. I was then shown the place where I had visited the Knights tombs on the Castle grounds.

They were showing me that the Knights buried at Malbork Castle still protect their sacred home.

Knight Graves 2

These weren’t the only visions at Malbork Castle.

While touring the kitchen area, I felt a plump, angry Chef.

She was still furious with her husband because of his affair with a beautiful young maid.

Their doomed love story is told below.

Kitchen Orb 2

I was able to capture several interesting photos at Malbork Castle.

This photo appears to have a Hooded Figure peering out of the window.

While I was in the Chapel, I was “urged” to take a picture of the seats along the side wall and I got this bright Orb…

The Spirits were practically screaming at me to take a picture here and a bright Orb was in the photo.

The Chapel was filled with Spirits. I also captured these bright Orbs…

As I was preparing to leave the Castle grounds, this beautiful butterfly landed in front of me.

The butterfly is a symbol of resurrection. Perhaps the Knights of Malbork were reinforcing their message to me.

They did not die.

They were transformed and still reside at Malbork Castle.

Words from the Other Side:

Different, Magic, Eddy, Unhappy, Young, Meal, Secret, Dirty

Warm, Willing, Flames, Location, Skill, Shadow, Birds, Bit

There is nothing different about their sad tale. The magic had gone out of the marriage. The Chef and her husband, Eddy, went through the motions of being married, but when a young maid arrived at the Castle, Eddy was awestruck, and fell in love.

The maid squealed in delight as a handsome Knight pulled her onto his horse and rode with her in front of him as he returned to the Castle. She only had eyes for the Knight and he returned her favor with a silver necklace, which she proudly wore. From the fine chain hung a pendant with a small Amber heart  and a silver feather. She belonged to the Knight, but Eddy grew more unhappy with each passing day and he coveted the young maid. As he worked alongside his wife in the kitchens, preparing each meal, he couldn’t hide his secret longing from his wife.

The Chef began to have murderous thoughts about the dirty affair she assumed her husband was having. She pictured the young maid as warm and willing to give herself to Eddy, and jealous flames ignited thoughts of revenge.

The Chef plotted a location for the demise of the lovers. She watched and waited for a chance to use her legendary skills with a carving knife. When the young maid crept into the shadows one evening to meet her Knight, she never made her rendezvous with him.

The birds in the forest were the only witnesses to the crime.

Eddy’s life ended soon after with the same bloody knife. Bits of the young maid’s blood mingled with his as the Chef returned to her post and resumed her baking with the murder weapon. When asked about her husband, the Chef angrily replied that he had run off with the young maid.

Secretly, the Chef smiled to herself as she felt the fine silver necklace with the Amber heart and silver feather beneath her apron.

Saved by a Ghost Priest

“What an excellent day for an Exorcism”

2014-08-23 08.48B

Georgetown Ghost Priest

I don’t know about you, but every time I have anything to do with The Exorcist, strange things begin to happen.

Strange bad things.

Years ago, when I read the book, a series of terrible things started happening. I grew so frustrated that I threw the book out of the car window while I was driving! (I was pulling into a relative’s driveway). I flung it as far away from me as I possibly could.

The bad things stopped happening.

2014-08-23 09.31.15

The Exorcist Stairs

I never wanted to see the movie, but I was talked into seeing it.

I never wanted to see that movie again.

2014-08-23 09.39.26

The Exorcist Stairs

Fast-forward to present-day.

I heard about the Georgetown Ghost Tour. Many years had gone by so my fear had been forgotten…

…until the bad things started happening again.

Tony

Tour Guide Tony: He appears to have a Ghostly script!

Robby had to see the movie so he could appreciate the famous Exorcist Steps.

I had never been to see the actual steps and it had been a long time since I’d seen the movie so…

…we watched the movie.

Rob’s response was, “Oh, my Lord!”

Then the bad things started happening.

Georgetown 3

Spooky Georgetown Doorway

It took a few days for me to realize what was going on, but when I made the connection, it began to make sense.

Thankfully, we went on the tour a few days later and as it turns out, we had a protector…

…a Ghost Priest.

Ghost Priest

Ghost Priest

Ghost Priest Outlined

I didn’t see him until I reviewed the photos. I was guided to take the shot. I knew that someone was there and I was being told to take the picture.

I took a picture of the street – not a point of interest on the tour.

Nothing bad happened after that, despite the visit to the Exorcist Stairs. In fact, there was the threat of rain all night, but we never felt a drop. It had been raining all day and Tony, the tour guide, was convinced that it would rain, but it never did.

We were being protected from the Exorcist Curse.

Under the Canal

Another extremely interesting coincidence (if you’ve read my other blogs you know I don’t believe in them so I’m being facetious)…

At the exact time that I took the picture of the Ghost Priest, Tony was talking about…

…Chandra Ann Levy.

This was hauntingly chilling to me.

Chandra Levy’s remains were found in Rock Creek Park, near the tour. When Chandra disappeared in 2001, I had a vision of a woman being murdered. It was so real that I was tempted to go to the police. I can still see it clearly today. A woman was being murdered, but she wasn’t killed in Rock Creek Park. She was killed at Gravelly Point Park, or somewhere nearby. It was nighttime and the planes were in the background landing at the Reagan National Airport. Two men committed the murder. One wore a bandana on his head. I had the vision before I knew about Chandra, but when the story came out and I saw her picture, I knew it was her.

When Tony was talking about Chandra on the tour, I was being told to take the picture of the street.

It was the Ghost Priest who showed up in the picture.

Georgetown 4

Georgetown Orb

What does it mean?

I don’t know, but I can tell you that there are plenty of Spirits in Georgetown and if you pay attention, they’ll come out to play.

There was some spooky good stuff on this tour!

Slabs of cement house Earthly remains, but look farther than usual and magic will blow into your soul. Do you hear my footsteps by the Library? Can you hear me fall down the stairs? My shoe may be in another dimension, but my needs carry the weight of society and it is essential that I roar my story to those who will listen.

When you visit my tomb remember that I am still a product of all that exists. I know your customs and all that you represent. I am a giant flame flowing in a sea of possibilities.

You may have forgotten me, but your success depends upon maintaining a strong connection to loss and your acceptance of Now.

Confused? Good! I remain an instrument of the Master Plan.

Ghost Burger with a Side of Fries

Rob and I went on a walking Ghost Tour of historic Annapolis, Maryland,

but the Spirits were anxious to communicate with us before the tour even began!

Scary Burger

Ghost Burger and Fries

We arrived early and enjoyed a leisurely stroll down Main Street followed by a relaxing dinner before the tour. We chose the DRY 85 restaurant at random and after we ordered, I suggested that we get the equipment ready and do a quick battery test.

As soon as we set the KII meter on the table, it started going crazy!

We’ve never seen it light up like that. There had to be an electrical cause, so we moved the meter all around the booth, going high and low, but the lights stopped whenever we moved it. When we set it in the middle of the table between us, it started going crazy again.

Annapolis 2

KII Meter and Orb at DRY 85 Restaurant

The table was solid wood, but I still wasn’t convinced that it was a Spirit so in a smart-alecky tone I asked,

“Are there any Ghosties here?”

The KII lights stopped, and then started again.

I began to take this situation a little more seriously.

This time I asked,

“If you’re a ghost, can you make it stop and start again?”

It did.

It stopped, then started immediately, just as I asked.

I asked the waitress if she knew of any ghosts in the restaurant and she hadn’t heard of any…

but I guarantee that they have one.

Or perhaps it was an anxious Spirit who didn’t want to wait to be mentioned on the tour.

Either way, it was fun to have contact before the tour began!

Annapolis 3

The Most Haunted Building in Annapolis!

I won’t spoil all of the wonderful ghost stories on the tour, but it was interesting that the first story was about Charles Campbell and his fiancé.

As the tour guide described the hauntings from the tragic couple who never saw their wedding day,

the first word from the Ghost Radar was:

Married

Is that great or what?

Annapolis 1

Blackbeard Was Here!

It is interesting to note that the next night, I saw a black shadow figure in my house. It was so real that I insisted someone was there.

Of course, there was no one.

Coincidence? I don’t believe in them.

Those Annapolis ghosts are frisky and I can’t wait to visit them again!

Words from the Other Side:

Wagon, Series, Visit, Prove, Command, Bear, Most

“The wagon tale about old Charles is one of many in a series of ghost stories about our fair town.

If you plan to visit us, you’d better prove that you have a healthy respect for the dead.

For if not, we’ll issue the command to release the Spirit Bear.

Most will shiver in fear…

and only the stong will survive.”

Seance with Jack the Ripper

Robby and I had an incredible night at The Haunted Cottage in Harpers Ferry, West Virginia.

The highlight of the evening was a visit from Jack the Ripper in a heart-stopping action-packed  séance!

jack-the-ripper

The man I saw in my timeline regression.
Jack the Ripper

A timeline regression was performed on me as a prelude to contacting Jack the Ripper. The host, Vince Wilson, hypnotized me and through a timeline regression, took me to 1888. I walked the cobblestone streets to the place where Mary Kelly was brutally murdered. As I stepped onto the streets of Whitechapel, London, the air was thick and I noticed the filth! I was chilled and I pulled a worn shawl closer around my shoulders. A man, dressed all in black, was shadowing me as I walked towards Mary Kelly’s home. When I arrived at 13 Miller’s Court, I opened the door and roaches scattered at the disturbance.

Mary Kelly was asleep on the bed and Jack the Ripper was in the room, watching me as I observed the scene.

Vince brought me back to the present and asked me the color of Mary Kelly’s hair.

I said it was reddish-auburn.

That was correct.

I then added that she was wearing a white petticoat and Vince told me that she was wearing a white dress when she died.

It felt so real! The others said they heard footsteps above us while I was hypnotized.

Before we started the séance, the front door opened on it’s own.

We all turned, expecting to see someone walk into the room, but no one came in. The door had been firmly latched and closed.

Haunted Cottage Table

Séance Table

Then we did the séance and we asked for Jack the Ripper to contact us.

He didn’t disappoint us.

It started with a loud creaking noise. Over and over, it sounded like someone was walking in the same room with us.

Then two of the women were touched. I was silently asking Jack the Ripper to touch me, since I just had a close encounter with him in the hypnosis session, and he lifted the table and pushed it into my legs! We were standing and the people near me had the table pushed into them also. Then I felt ice cold. Some of us felt cold and others, right next to each other, felt hot. I was holding the lady’s wrist on my right and I told her that she felt ice cold, but she said she was hot.

The room was dark, but then the blackness grew even darker. A black shadow crossed the room. The dim computer light was blacked out. Another lady was poked in the back when the men in the back said they saw a black figure.

Before the séance began, Vince put a tambourine on the table and he asked Jack the Ripper to tap it. We heard a loud noise on the table and when we turned the lights on, the tambourine was flipped over and a candle was knocked out of the candlestick.

Wow!

But let’s not forget about John Wilkes Booth. The Haunted Cottage is known as The Booth House and prior to our visit, I requested that we hear from him. Upon review of my photos, I found a face in a crystal ball – the face of John Wilkes Booth!

All of the pictures were filled with Orbs, but there were two particularly bright Orbs.

I’m certain that we heard from Jack the Ripper and John Wilkes Booth at the Haunted Cottage!

For all of the non-believers and naysayers out there, all I can say is that I was there and you weren’t.

Had you been there, you’d be a believer now too!

Spirits and Sneach at Virginia Beach

We had a rare treat when we took a mini-vacation to Virginia Beach. We arrived the day after a foot of snow had blanketed the city. Our three days were perfect as we were blessed with sunshine, mild temperatures and Sneach – Snow at the Beach. As Rob and I were chasing dolphins along the shoreline, Rob became tongue-tied trying to describe the snow, sand and beach. He blurted out, “Sneach”, which I think described it perfectly.

Besides Sneach, there were plenty of Spirits to be found at Virginia Beach. During our short stay we were able to take time out to do some Ghost Hunting (disguised as tourists) .

Prior to our visit, I read Haunted Virginia Beach by Alpheus J. Chewning. There is a chapter about the ghosts at the Old Coast Guard Museum. I asked the ladies working at the museum that day, Ruth and Marilin, if they had any experiences with ghosts in the museum and they had indeed. There were many tales, such as a man’s voice when no one was around.

This was the most active place that we toured, as far as photographic evidence. On our short day-time tour, I was able to capture many Orbs, and one Orb was particularly bright. The majority of the Orbs were at the entrance of the Museum, near the African-American wall of pictures. Each photo below is a different shot. There are multiple Orbs, and one especially bright Orb.

I would love to go back and explore the museum at night without all the noise and distractions, but I was pleased that the Spirits made themselves known through the photos.

They were also active on the Ghost Radar.

Old Cape Henry Lighthouse

2014-01-31 23.42.40

Rob and the Old Cape Henry Lighthouse

This one was interesting because I couldn’t find a ghost story about this lighthouse, but there are many ghost stories in the surrounding area. I was anxious to see if we could find anything.

The ladies at the gift shop said there were no ghost stories about the lighthouse.

The challenge was on!

I got two things. One was a picture of an Orb above Rob’s right shoulder as he was going down the Lighthouse stairs. This was significant because it was day-time and there were many other tourists with us in the tight spaces. We didn’t have the time or space to do a lengthy investigation.

Lighthouse 1

Orb above Rob’s right shoulder as he climbs down the stairs of the lighthouse.

The second thing was more of a feeling that I had when we went to a park near the Lighthouse. Located on the base at Fort Story, there is a park with a statue of Francois Joseph Paul de Grasse. We had left the lighthouse and were exploring a bit, when we saw the park and a pier overlooking the beautiful shoreline. We enjoyed the view from the pier, Rob blew his new fog horn that we bought at the Lighthouse gift shop, but all the while I kept feeling drawn to the park area below and behind us. I had seen the statue, but only the back of it from the pier. There was too much snow to explore the park, but as I was returning to the car, I felt compelled to enter the park area to see the name on the statue. Despite the snow barrier and a lack of boots, Rob and I checked it out.

Prior to looking at the plaque on the statue, I kept feeling that there was fighting going on. I took pictures of the park thinking that there was a war and that a great battle was being fought. I could picture the scene of cannons being fired and I could hear the screams of wounded soldiers. The entire time that we were on the pier admiring the beauty of the ocean, I was drawn to the field behind me, almost as if I could hear the raging battle.

As Rob and I read the plaque at the base of the statue, my feelings made sense:

“This statue, a gift from France, is placed here overlooking the waters where Admiral Compte de Grasse successfully engaged the British fleet on September 5, 1781. The “Battle of the Capes” prevented crucial reinforcements from reaching Cornwallis, thus hastening his surrender.

Dedicated in grateful remembrance of the decisive contribution of Admiral de Grasse to the winning of American Independence.”

The continuing Battle of the Capes

Statue of Admiral Compte de Grasse

Remember, I had never been to Fort Story before and there were no ghost tales about it during my brief research prior to the trip.

I could feel the battle, but I didn’t know anything about it, until I read the plaque.

I feel certain that we heard from Admiral de Grasse.

My findings are that there are Spirits that visit the Lighthouse and there is a battle still being fought that can be viewed from the Lighthouse.

Nauticus and the Battleship Wisconsin

This was by far the busiest place that we toured, so it was difficult to be alone and do a proper Ghost Hunt, but I did get another picture of an Orb above Rob while he sat in a command chair on the ship.

Like the picture of the Orb above Rob in the Lighthouse, I think this is a Spirit that protects Rob, so it might not be a Spirit that hangs out on the ship, but it’s hard to say.

Cavalier Hotel

Unfortunately, this well-known haunted hotel was not open so we couldn’t explore inside, but we did walk around outside and we peeked in a few widows. One of the most famous ghosts to haunt this grand hotel is Adolph Coors, who founded the famous brewery. He was found dead on the grounds outside of his 6th floor room on June 5, 1929 and he is seen at the hotel, along with other previous guests.

This would be another fabulous place to explore at night.

This was only my second time at Virginia Beach. The first visit was a few years ago in the summer and it was beautiful, but I loved this trip because I’ve never seen snow at the beach and the place was deserted. It was the perfect peaceful get-away.

It was like a ghost town.

Dog Days of Summer Bring Out the Ghost Dogs

We took our dogs on vacation with us this year, and we were rewarded with a visit from two ghost dogs!

We spent a glorious week at Deep Creek Lake in Garrett County, Maryland. Having lived in Maryland all my life and after travelling all over the world, I had never been to Deep Creek. It was a wonderful vacation spot and I can’t wait to go back.

Before leaving for vacation, I searched the web for ghost stories or hauntings anywhere near Deep Creek but I couldn’t find a single story. While horseback riding at Western Trails, I asked our trail guide if there were any haunted places to explore in the area. He said he had lived at Deep Creek all his life and he’d never heard of a single ghost story in the area!

Robby and I would just have to find the Spirits on our own.

We passed several cemeteries, so in-between our days of boating on the lake, riding a mountain coaster and chairlift, fishing, swimming, going to movies, zip lining and horseback riding – Robby and I visited some cemeteries and the Spirits seemed happy to see us. I say this because we had very little time to do an investigation, but we captured some amazing photos in a short span of time and the Spirits were talkative, as always.

We visited the Ferndale cemetery first.  We had to return the next day for verification because of the amazing Spirits that revealed themselves to us! We always double-check to look for any possible explanation when potential Spirit evidence is discovered. We could find no Earthly explanation for these photos.

St. Bernard Ghost Dog

Sitting atop a tombstone was a dog that resembled a St. Bernard. He sits next to a grave that was new this year, with the same last name of the tombstone that he sits on. I was guided to take this photo when the Ghost Radar said the word, “Orange”, and there was an orange ribbon on the flowers by this tombstone.

Ever faithful, ever guarding, ever loving, he remains by their side.

Although Deep Creek Lake may not have any ghost stories, they do have Spirits and they were eager to show themselves. Robby and I felt positive energy at the cemeteries, and at Deep Creek Lake, and we look forward to returning again soon.

A Message from the Spirits at Deep Creek Lake

We get such a mixture of visitors here. We allow anyone to visit, and we are thankful for their company, but having newcomers who acknowledge us is like a breeze blowing fresh life into our tightly knit community.

We would never bar anyone from communing with us. We are aware that oceans and the lure of tropical settings keep many people from enjoying our summer activities, and from bringing repeat customers year after year. Lakes and oceans both command respect as luxury vacation spots, but our goal is to grow in Spirit. Making our presence known will be our tool and we will show ourselves to those who sense us. We will massage these feelings and we’ll turn a burning desire, glowing bright as an orange flame, into a major operation. Our kitchen will be photographs where non-believers will see our creations come to life. If you ask, “How am I to believe?”, you only need to try a small bite of belief and you will be amazed at what can grow!

We are pictured here for you to make you see that we exist! Robby’s October birthday party was the beginning and look how things have changed, like a chemical reaction! We appeared on his shoulder, and although he is still a student, he has mastered the art of seeing. A worthy pair, these two have added us to their discoveries and we are grateful.

A messenger, James, brings knowledge from Egypt. He asks that you drink from the Cup of Awakening that we offer.  You will determine if our proof is enough to convince you that we are real, and if not, we’ll keep showing you more, until you finally believe.

The Next Investigation:

School begins next week so the next investigation has yet to be determined, as we prepare for the new school year. We’ll let the Spirits  lead us to our next amazing journey.

Angel Garden or Alien Sanctuary? How About Both!

Nestled amongst a beautiful community on St. John’s Lane in Ellicott City, the Whipps Garden Cemetery is a one-acre sanctuary full of life.

Started in 1855, it was used as a cemetery until the early 1900’s. When the cemetery became inactive, it was overgrown, damaged and nearly destroyed, until it was saved and restored in 1987. There are a variety of native plant species, pathways, benches and old tombstones making it a garden paradise.

But plants aren’t the only thing alive in this garden!

Rob and I could feel the energy before we got out of the car. What we found left me speechless.

During the investigation, Rob said he felt as if someone had their hand on his heart. When we reviewed the pictures I found…

Man and Rob

That is my father looking down on Robby. It is my father’s brow, nose and mouth.

My father. He was the one holding his hand on Robby’s heart.

In a few days it will be the anniversary of my father’s death. Coincidence? I don’t believe in them.

My father was the Angel, then I found the Alien. Here’s what happened.

I took this picture…

Arms and Figure

On the left it looks like arms and a head tilted to the right. On the right it looks like a small Alien.

I couldn’t figure out who these two were, so I went back the next night and tried to take the same picture. I didn’t have much time and I was getting ready to give up finding the exact spot when – Plop! A huge raindrop fell on the top of my head. It hadn’t rained in eight hours. I looked up and realized that I was in the right spot. It was as if they smacked me on the top of the head to make me see.

I took a picture and I couldn’t believe what I saw. Remember, this was the next day, in the same spot…

Figure 1

Cat Alien

So I said, “Did I really see that?” And I took another picture in the same spot, and I got…

Figure B

Cat Alien Orb

It was as if they were saying, “Duh!” The Cat Alien was still there, but this time there was an Orb at his feet.

Then I asked, “What about the figure with the arms?” I took another picture in the same spot. The Cat Alien was gone, but now there was an Orb where the figure with the arms was.

Arms Orb 1

Arms Figure Orb

I then asked for a picture with no Cat Alien, no Arms Figure and no Orbs to show that they were really there, and I took another picture and…

They were all gone.

An Angel, an Alien, and still we got more.

This was a face that was in one of the collection boxes. I went back the next night and took the same picture, but there was no face and no way that I could recreate it.

There there’s the Kneeling Man.

I went back the next night and I found that the “body” is a bench, but the way that the man’s head is tilted, and considering the other amazing encounters in this garden, I believe this is a man kneeling in the cemetery.

Then there is this Tombstone Spirit. He’s just hanging out as he rises out of the tombstone…

And more Orbs…

Orb 2

This is a very light Orb, to the left of the yellow flower, but it was one of three Orbs in one picture.

The KII meter was going off the entire investigation like we’ve never seen – flashing red and going crazy, and the Ghost Radar was talking up a storm.

The Whipps Garden Cemetery is truly a wondrous place that I heartily recommend.

You will be enchanted with all of the life, both Earthly and from the Other Side.

The Next Investigation:

Robby and I will be on vacation next week, but we’ll continue to explore and investigate. It won’t be in Ellicott City, but it will be in Maryland.

Give A Little And Get A Magical Gift from a King

I didn’t think it was possible to get another picture that would equal a picture of a Gnome, a Tree Spirit or a Ghost Dog, but…

We did.

When Robby and I started our investigations, I began secretly asking the Fairies to let me take a picture of them. I’ve had glimpses of them out of the corner of my eye and I’ve felt them – ever so fleetingly, but I’ve never actually seen one.

I kept hoping and unbelievably, my wish was granted.

Here’s how it happened.

This week’s investigation took us to the Ellicott Family Cemetery. Just off Main Street, on Old Columbia Pike, a Maryland Historical Society Road sign says: “Friends Meeting House and Graveyard”. The Ellicott brothers created this burial ground around 1775.

We always visit our investigation sites twice and on our first visit, not only did we get very little activity, but I was eaten alive by mosquitoes and we left pretty much empty handed.

Except for a picture of a Crabby Guy.

The picture is pretty cool, but this guy doesn’t look too happy.

Crabby Guy

The next time we visited the cemetery, I had an idea.

We took our fantastic Gnome and Tree Spirit picture after we had delivered a few gifts to the Ghost Dog, so I thought maybe we could sweeten the Crabby Guy with a few flowers for the graves, and maybe a little laughter.

I was humbled by the gifts we were given.

I picked flowers from my yard and I didn’t have enough flowers for all the graves, but I spread them around as best that I could. Robby and I also had fun.

Well, I had fun and Robby was embarrassed by his crazy mother.

I used the voice recorder and KII meter and I “interviewed” the spirits as if they were on a talk-show and I was the host. I went up to the tombstones, put the microphone up close and said,

“So John, tell the audience what you have to say for yourself.”

Silence.

“Oh, your wife is the talker in your family? Now, that’s not what she said. You’d better speak up and defend yourself.”

Robby’s response was, “Mom! This isn’t a TV show!”

Maybe not, but the activity on the Ghost Radar increased exponentially from the time before, and I would later find out that we captured incredible photos from the Other Side.

Flowers and laughter chased away the Crabby Guy and brought us magic.

Here’s what we got:

I got a picture of someone peeking out at us from behind a gravestone. Not a shadow – this spirit is in full color.

Peeking Figure 2

The tombstone was Ephraim Haines, born 1839, died 1873

I got a picture of a colt – lounging on the cemetery wall. Or could it be a Unicorn?

I got a picture of three Fairies. One of them is the Fairy King, complete with a crown!

We got the word “Bronwen” on the Ghost Radar, so I’m calling him King Bronwen.

I know this one is hard to see, so I’ve done some extra outlines. Please forgive my outlines!

King Bronwen was sitting on top of one of the founders of Ellicott City’s tombstone: Andrew Ellicott, which is right next to his brother and other founder, John Ellicott.

John and Andrew Ellicott

John and Andrew Ellicott – and Fairies!

My belief in fairies, gnomes and nature spirits didn’t require photographic evidence, but now that I have been given his incredible gift, I feel as though I’ve been touched by magic. The small bouquet of flowers could never begin to equal the Kingly gift that I was given, but I will be forever grateful for their generosity.

King Bronwen’s Sonnet

Tread softly on this hallowed ground.

Travelers from near and far may differ in their positions on the mental state of those who visit us, but for the worried, fear not.

How we came to be here is no mystery. Come early or late and listen, for those of us who dwell here stay because a part of us enjoyed the trip that was our life. Gold can fly rapidly from a physical body, but seasons pass as we get older and we quickly learn the definition of life and the courage to live it.

Learning to delight in the joy of a frog will keep you grounded.

Learning to shout your joy will keep worry away.

I’ll be here, King Bronwen, too and I will be with you yesterday and tomorrow. Whom you chose to come with is limited only by your imagination so rise above your doubts and give me your hand, as a trusting child to a loving parent. Cut loose and live for every day is important! Poor is the soul who grows familiar with failure and forgets how he got there. Live life as it is, where everything is precious and kissed by the Sun.

See poetry in an atom and it will fuel your soul’s engine giving you the power to live!

The Next Investigation:

Robby enjoyed the Ellicott Family Cemetery so much that he wants to do it again! He’ll be at Karate camp next week (he’s a Brown Belt), so I’m going to take this time to work on my novel, Both Sides.  We’ll be looking for another site to investigate as soon as Robby returns from camp.

How About A Little Ghost With Your Wine?

Leisurely strolling down Main Street, stopping for a sip of wine, hearing ghost stories.

What could be better?

Unfortunately, Robby couldn’t go with me for this week’s investigation. I went on the Spirits Tour and you must be at least twenty-one years old to attend the tour. The walking tour takes you to four of Ellicott City’s establishments that sell alcohol and participants are invited to have a drink at each stop.

The Wine Bin: Formerly the Ellicott City Fire Station

The Wine Bins’ owner, Dave, was kind enough to tell us some ghostly tales about Captain Harry Shipley, the resident ghost.

I could feel the Captain as soon as I entered the store. I felt that he was far from threatening, in fact, from the stories that I heard on the Spirit Tour, the Captain seemed quite playful. It is obvious that the Captain loves his Fire Station home and he shares it with the current owners.

I didn’t need any validation that Captain Shipley was present, but I got it anyway. Dave talked about the movies that he shows outside on the wall of the Wine Bin and he mentioned two Jimmy Stewart movies. Jimmy Stewart is my cousin so I knew that was a sign to me that that Captain was present. I captured a photo with four Orbs so obviously Shipley is not alone. I’m certain that one of the Orbs was a former firehouse dog.

Ellicott Mills Brewing Company: Formerly the Talbot Lumber and Supply Building

I took one of the best photos of the night here. I didn’t see it until the review, but in one of the photos there was a Shadow Man and a Shadow Child standing next to him. The figures seemed too clear, so I went back to the Brewing Company a few days later to see if it could have been a reflection of someone in a window.

There was no window.

When I showed the picture to the Brewing Company story-teller from the Spirits Tour, he said, “Of course it’s him. We get that all the time.”

He was referring to the resident ghost who hung himself in the building during the Great Depression.

Obviously, the Shadow Man had been watching us from above and even did a bit of posing for the camera.

But who is the smaller person next to him?

The Shadow Man used to have a family, so is he telling us that he has been reunited with them? Is this his child?

I certainly hope so.

The Diamondback Tavern

Tales of Davey Crockett and a Ghost Girl with long brunette hair made this former livery stable a tavern rich with ghostly history.

I took several photos in a hallway where the Ghost Girl has been seen. In one photo there is a clear Orb and in the next photo, taken immediately after, the Orb is gone.

The Tavern was full of patrons that night, and I’m certain that the resident ghosts were also in attendance.

Rumor Mill Alley Mist

The Rumor Mill

Not to be outdone, The Rumor Mill has a Man in the Bowler Hat spirit who makes believers out of skeptics. Our Rumor Mill tour guide that night admitted to being a former skeptic, but not after his encounters with the Man in the Bowler Hat.

It’s no wonder. The Rumor Mill building used to be owned by an undertaker!

Just outside, before we entered the Rumor Mill, I took two pictures. I took almost the same shot twice, but the first time there was a strange mist in the photo, and in the shot immediately after – no mist! I took the pictures one after the other and there was barely a second between the shots so if it was fog, (which we didn’t see that night) it was the speediest fog that I ever saw!

Then I took another photo that bothered me for days. I knew there was something about the photo that I needed to see, but I couldn’t figure it out. As with the Brewing Company, I went back to the Rumor Mill a few days later and I asked to take the same shot. They were kind enough to oblige and I got a picture in daylight for comparison.

I was about to write it off as nothing, but in two other photos of the same room, I found a very bright Orb and in another picture, I saw two very light Orbs, right in the area that I was questioning. I took another look at the first photo…and I found it. It was close to where the Orbs were. They were obviously showing me where to look.

It was a Bowler Hat!

On a chair, there appears to be a large Orb, with a brim, sitting on the chair seat.  The Man in the Bowler Hat is said to be seen sitting at the tables.

He let me take a picture of his hat, and he bugged me until I saw it!

They do that sometimes.

Wandering Souls

Take Flight ye Strangers of fear and gloom! Our factors of history demand that you to combine our Father with yours! Never forget that we are woven together with the same Spiritual Thread and you exist halfway between Heaven and Hell! Ben, the scoundrel, brought forth treasonous tales and he was doomed to remain stuck in his Dutch attire, facing a mortifying mixture of shame and everlasting woe! His relationship with non-believers led him down a path of blindness and took him to a terrifying level of morbidity. Tragedy was like a package, delivered to his door, and when opened, it laid wide his weakness for being misled.

The party was a ruse and the beginning of the end for him. Better that a car had run him over than to meet his end of being drawn and quartered. Always the object of scorn and envy, such characterization could only lead to somebody eventually cutting his life short at such an early age. It was a score for the Grim Reaper that drove the town to feign surprise as the undertaker hammered away at his metal and wood sarcophagus. The horse drawn hearse was a drive into history down the only path that one could imagine as doomed for eternity. No advice was heeded and when the mud-slinging began, not a kind word was said to help the former Buffalo Soldier and parent of sorrow on his ghostly journey. The push from a neighbor was probably the only love that he could expect. Riding away cannot stop Mr. Lonely from finding anything except a broken heart.

Raise a glass to Kristin! Her primitive nature is a welcome find in this wretched life. She is our shining star who guards our property that is stepped in blood.

If he’d only known the mood of the city, he would never have come.

Now he was doomed, never to leave.
