Super Moon Ghost Hunting

super-moon

A Super Moon and gorgeous weather provided the perfect setting for our ghost hunting adventure at the Point Lookout Lighthouse in Scotland, Maryland.

Excitement was high as we began our investigation at the most haunted lighthouse in the United States, but we were about to discover the downside to ghost hunting experienced Spirits. The Spirits at the Point Lookout Lighthouse get plenty of practice playing with ghost hunters. We had to book almost a year in advance for a chance to tangle with these spirited spooks!

There were six in our group and one was quite nervous about searching for ghosts in a dark, creepy house in the dead of night.

Can you imagine?

Bright Orb

Unfortunately for our Nervous Nellie, the Spirits decided to focus on her! I guess they needed a bit of excitement after being bored with experienced ghost hunters. They obviously loved hearing her screams.

The Spirits enjoyed a game of Cat and Mouse all night. We’d go to a room, wait, then we’d hear a noise in a different room. We’d move to that room,  wait, and the noise would move to a different room. It went on like this for quite some time, until our Nervous Nellie got brave and took some pictures with her phone.

That’s when the fun began.

The pre-flash display on her phone – and only her phone – showed orbs shooting across her phone screen. We went from room to room chasing these playful Spirits. Sometimes we’d see three orbs shoot across the phone screen at once, but the elusive orbs always managed to escape being caught in the photo. The only time she caught something was when two orbs darted up the staircase and she caught a picture of the orb light tails.

The most active room was the ladies bedroom. There were several women lighthouse keepers and we spent more time in this room due to the high level of activity throughout the night. A review of the photos revealed an interesting form in the window of the ladies bedroom.

Ghostly specter in the window of the ladies bedroom

This was a great adventure located on a peninsula in the picturesque setting of the Potomac River and the Chesapeake Bay. If you want a true test of your ghost hunting skills, come to the Point Lookout Lighthouse for a tough examination given by some slippery Spirits!

The Scary Red Hat Society

Red Hat

Before I could see Hats on Souls, I’d never heard of the Red Hat Society.

Unfortunately, I discovered their dark secrets.

The Red Hat Society is an international organization and I’m sure there are happy members all over the world, but I wish to relate my experience in the hope that others will learn from my sad tale and do some research before jumping in as I did.

After I made the discovery of seeing Hats, someone suggested that I join the Red Hat Society. It made perfect sense. After checking out their website, I anticipated a joyful experience in sharing my ability to see hats with my new friends. I mistakenly thought that a society that celebrated hats would be delighted with someone so connected to hats.

Silly, silly me.

The website talks up a good story and it sounds great, but it’s a perfect example of “Buyer Beware”. I didn’t catch on to the fact that if you’re under fifty years old, forget it. Qualifications should mention that a Medicare card is required.

My local group meets once a month and my busy schedule finally allowed me to attend a dinner at a local restaurant. Previous meetings were held further away and after the kazoo incident, I wished I had attended a meeting at one of those less-convenient locations.

Kazoo

One of the members was celebrating a birthday, so everyone pulled out their Birthday Kazoos. After instructions on what end to blow out of (it’s the large end by the way), a Happy Birthday Kazoo Serenade was played.

We weren’t at a local pancake house or McDonald’s. We were at a nice restaurant, near my home. I prayed that my neighbors were all having dinner at home this night.

When the discussion turned to trips and vacations, I mentioned my trip this year to Costa Rica. I assumed that this fun group, as advertised on the website, which also endorses fitness, would share my joy of days filled with snorkeling, horseback riding on the beach, zip lining through the jungle and my first surfboarding lesson. Instead, I was met with deafening silence and stares. I felt as though I’d just declared that I was an alien visiting from another planet.

Surfboarding

After our first and only get-together, the group leader checked out my book, Presidential Souls. Without reading the book or asking me for clarification, she called me early the next morning and informed me that I wasn’t a good fit for the group. I was told that they are a Christian group and my beliefs do not fit in. I attempted to give some explanation and I said that if she read the book she would get a better understanding of the true nature of my beliefs, but her mind was already made up.

Obviously, I did not wish to remain a member of this crabby, narrow-minded society, especially when the leader had someone from the corporate office call me to complain about my beliefs! When I told the woman from corporate headquarters that I was looking for a local professional organization of my peers to share the Red Hat Society’s claims of fun and friendship, I was told, “This is definitely not a professional organization!”

No kidding, really?

For me, I’m going back to ghost hunting. The Ellicott City ghosts I hang out with are infinitely friendlier, a lot more fun and a hell of a lot less scary!

Have a Rum and Ghost at the VFW

Grunge USA Flag

It was a weekend of Spirits, ghostly birthday reminders and fun!

I attended an investigation at a local haunted VFW Post. Regular ghosts at this lively VFW include:

Skippy: a foul mouthed sailor who likes rum and coke. We picked up several  of his foul expressions on the ghost box. We had to cut him off.

Gene: loves cigars and was in attendance this night when we smelled his cigar smoke. Ghosts don’t have any respect for “No Smoking” signs.

Mike hangs out in the hallway as Vick sips his wine. We caught a few others lounging in the chairs by the bar:

VFW 2

During an amazing interactive flashlight session, the recently deceased Joe acknowledged that he is safe on the Other Side and he has been happily reunited with his wife.

Finally, we have the Unknown Orb guarding the Memorial Corner. The names of members on Sick Call are posted and a reserved table, chair and empty boots complete the memorial for all veterans and those lost in the service to their country.

VFW 3

And then there’s Grandma.

I’m usually the one who remembers every birthday, but this year I’ve been so preoccupied with my book release that I forgot the anniversary of my grandmother’s 104th birthday.

Never fear. She reminded me.

It was the weekend and I got up early, let the dogs out and went back upstairs to do some work on the computer. A few hours later I went downstairs and the television was on. No one had been downstairs. Even the dogs didn’t have access to the room where the television was located. I turned the TV off, and went back upstairs. I came right back down, and the TV was on again. No one was around, and no one could have turned it on. It’s never done this before.

My son and husband finally got up and came downstairs. I mentioned the television and my son said that last night while he and his friend played video games, the music box started playing. We haven’t played that music box in ages. The music box is directly under the haunted television. Then my sister texted me reminding me of my grandmother’s birthday.

The pieces finally fell into place. My grandmother was known for her lack of skills with electronics, but obviously she’s picked up a few pointers on the Other Side. This is the same grandmother who called my husband on his cell phone the day of our daughter’s wedding. Grandma was letting me know then that she’d be in attendance at the wedding, and she was reminding me now that it was her birthday.

Happy Birthday Grandma!

It’s Official! He’s Real!

IMG_2839

I told you the presidents weren’t happy and now it’s official.

The photograph of George Washington has been verified by experts and the verdict is in:

IT’S REAL!

I knew it was real, since I took it, but now the experts agree with me.

Joshua P. Warren is the host of a syndicated weekly paranormal program, Speaking of Strange, and he is regarded as “one of the great paranormal investigators of all time” by George Noory, host of Coast to Coast AM.

Joshua P. Warren

I sent the photo of George Washington to Mr. Warren and his team of experts did their best to prove that this was not a picture of a ghost.

They took it apart, pixel by pixel, and after an extremely thorough examination, they decided that this was an authentic photo of a ghost.

Mr. Warren is even planning a visit to the tavern where the photo was taken and I have no doubt that the presidents will be there with us.

Ghost of George Washington

Do you realize what this means?

It gives validation to what I’ve been saying.

The presidents are upset and they’ve come forward to be heard, and to be seen. They are crying out for you to hear what they have to say. They may be on the Other Side, but they retain their love and passion for the United States and they have more than a few choice words about what we’ve done with it.

They want you to hear their words before you cast your vote.

Stay tuned! It won’t be long now.

Hold Your Horses Guys!

hollywoodstarlogo

What do those in Hollywood love? Publicity!

Being on the Other Side doesn’t change a thing. They still have no problem stepping up and seeking the spotlight.

They’ve been coming out of the woodwork lately. Famous movie stars and Hollywood types trying to get my attention.

Oh, woe is me! I sure hope no one thinks I’m complaining!

As my launch of Presidential Souls quickly approaches, a rash of Hollywood celebrities have come forward. I guess they figure I’m finished with the presidents, so it’s their turn now.

Unfortunately, I’m not ready for them yet! They’re all adorable and I’m so honored to meet them. I’m taking notes and I’m promising each and every one of them that I’ll do their Hat readings as soon as possible.

The first to step up was Walt Disney! He had a definite message to give us. He was persistent, so I did his Hat reading and his antics still crack me up.

Next, I had visits from Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra.

The next visitor was a surprise and there is quite a story to tell with him. I realized later that he was in Ocean’s 11 with Dean and Frank. It made me wonder. Was Red Skelton good friends with the Rat Pack?

The list grows longer every day, but these stars are going to have to wait in line, just like the presidents had to wait their turn. The first ladies are next on the agenda. I’ve got a good start on First Lady Souls, but I still have much to do before I can begin doing readings on the Hollywood crowd.

I can’t wait t get to know each and every one of them. Have no fear that they are alive and well and still seeking the spotlight, even from the Other Side.

I Got A Ghost For Christmas

Japan Blog

This is Dwight. He’s the ghost we brought home for Christmas.

His name is Dowaito, but I call him Dwight. It makes it easier for me to talk to him, and he doesn’t mind.

My husband received a WWII Japanese Arisaka rifle as a Christmas present. I only caught a quick glimpse of the gift during the flurry of holiday festivities, and I had forgotten about it, until I sensed an extra passenger when returning home on Christmas night.

I as I listened to a screaming Dwight behind me in the car, I asked my husband to tell me the story about the rifle. The Arisaka Type 38 rifle belonged to a Japanese soldier in WWII. This rifle is unique because the Chrysanthemum Flower Seal, stamped on the top of the receiver, is intact.

Japan Blog 2

Chrysanthemum Flower Seal (Arrow) on the rifle receiver

I chose the picture of the Japanese soldier (above) because he looks like Dwight. A face appeared in a reflection in one of the photos I took of the rifle. The eyes in the photo appear overly large, but later when I searched for a Japanese solider image, I realized that the large eyes could be glasses.

Japan Gun Face

Dwight Ghost Face

Dwight was used to yelling a lot because no one has listened to him for a very long time. Thankfully, the fates brought him to me so I can help him find his way home.

I thought the story ended here, but Dwight wasn’t finished with me yet. He knew I was listening, so he invited his former comrades to raise their voices.

In family discussions about the rifle, I learned that my husband’s brother (the gun owner before he gifted it), also has in his possession a Japanese Good Luck flag, complete with blood stains.

Rabaul Battle Flag

A wallet with Japanese family photos was acquired with the flag during WWII.

Battle of New Britain (4)

When a door to the Other Side is opened, multiple Spirits may use it. Thats’s exactly what happened with these Japanese soldiers and it’s why I wrote, Presidential Souls, about all of the U.S. presidents who came forward to deliver their messages.

The Moral to this story is: If you took home any antique gifts this holiday season, be aware that you may have been gifted with some extra special Christmas Spirits!

Ghost of George Washington Appears!

George Washington

Seeing a full-bodied apparition is extremely rare, but getting a photograph of one is extraordinary. This is like catching the big one. Anyone can say they saw a ghost, but photographing one is like finding the Holy Grail.

George Washington let himself be photographed for a reason.

I know. I asked him.

“Why did you show yourself like this?”

He responded: “SO PEOPLE SEE US.”

He’s giving validation – proof – that what I claim in Presidential Souls is true. I’m really communicating with the presidents and they are really with us.

And they’re supporting and hanging around me.

I had dinner at the Middleton Tavern in Annapolis, Maryland. I was celebrating a special night, but I also spoke to the manager about the Presidential Souls pre-launch reward:

$1000 A Visit to the Maryland State House and Lunch with the Author

Ghosts abound in the historic city of Annapolis, Maryland. The Maryland State House is the oldest state capitol in the country and the only state house that served as the Nation’s Capital. Enjoy a tour with the author then lunch (or dinner) at Middleton Tavern in Annapolis. Middleton Tavern was established in 1750 and hosted famous patrons such as George Washington, Thomas Jefferson and Benjamin Franklin. I’ll ask the ghosts to come out and play if you join me for a visit! I’ll identify your Celestial Hat and provide an autographed copy of Presidential Souls.

You’ll receive:
+A tour of the Maryland State House with the author
+Lunch (or dinner) at Middleton Tavern in historic Annapolis
+Your Celestial Hat reading
+An autographed print copy
+Bonus Exclusive eBook

I hadn’t even asked the ghosts to come out and play yet, so I was shocked at the early reveal! They’re so anxious for us to acknowledge them that they’re taking matters into their own hands.

Upon our arrival, we were seated at a table with pictures of George and Martha Washington looking down on us. Mentally, I said, “Hi George and Martha” and I was pleased that they were with us. I never expected to see the full form of George Washington!

After a fantastic dinner, I was ecstatic when the manager asked if I wanted to perform a paranormal investigation of the Middleton Tavern! There have been numerous paranormal occurrences at the tavern, so we made the arrangements and I told him I could feel the Spirits in the restaurant.

I didn’t see George Washington in the photograph until later that night. Normally, I don’t immediately download the photos from my IPhone, but despite the late hour, I felt compelled to do so. This is one of those moments when I realize later that I was being guided.

The photograph is of a black figure. You can see an outline on the head of what looks like a wig worn in colonial times. You can also see a triangular-shaped jacket collar, which is similar to the portrait. The black figure is transparent. You can see the outline of the picture frame and other items through the black figure.

I could see that this apparition was George Washington, but I also verified it with him. He is literally “coming out” to stress the message I’ve been giving, and I’ll keep giving.

Boardwalk Fries and Saltwater Spirits

Ocean City Boardwalk

A busy summer beach resort, Ocean City, Maryland, is filled with a fabulous beach, a famous boardwalk and…

…ghosts.

Robby and I recently went on the Ocean City Ghost Walk, where we were introduced to more than a few Spirits who still love to hang out at the beach.

Robby took pictures during the tour and I pointed out highlights when I “felt” the Spirits. We were lucky enough to capture two Spirits in one of Ocean City’s most notorious haunts – the Atlantic Hotel.

IMGP1124

Dr. Charles Purnell is the principle Ghost-in-Residence at the Atlantic Hotel, but I believe there is also a woman hanging out with him. As soon as we approached the hotel, I told Robby I sensed a strong presence on the outside fire-escape stairs. He took pictures and we captured shots of a man and a woman in an old-fashioned bonnet. The pictures are not clear and easier to view from the original source, so I included outlines to point out the Spirits. The photos, though hard to see, back up the strong projected presence before we entered the hotel.

Figure Outline 3

The Spirit in this picture could be Dr. Purnell. A man is walking up the stairs with his back is to us. He is not wearing a hat and I can make out a coat-sleeve and pants.

Dr. Purnell is no doubt getting in place to prepare for our visit in his hotel.

Face2

Woman with Bonnet

Face4

This woman is on the same outside stairs. I probably sensed such a strong presence on the fire-escape because there were two Spirits. I can only make out the head of the woman, but she’s wearing an old-fashioned bonnet with a wide brim.  Perhaps she remains by the ocean, like the ladies pictured below, because she wants the blissful times at the Atlantic Hotel to continue forever.

During the tour we learned about Joanne Trimper and the Ocean City Trimper Carousel. The carousel is the oldest continuously operating carousel in the United States and Joanne loves it so much that she still remains by her favorite Carousel Horse. We learned that Joanne’s perfume scent, “Cristal”, lingers near her Carousel Horse, so we returned the next night to check it out.

IMG_2597

“Forever Joanne” Carousel Horse

Robby rode Joanne’s Carousel Horse and when he asked Joanne for a sign that she was near, a sweet scent momentarily drifted past him. Unfortunately, I have no sense of smell so I couldn’t experience the phenomenon, but the look on Robby’s face was genuine shock and surprise when he got the confirmation that he asked for.

Robby described the multitude of aromatic scents surrounding the Carousel and he said there was no one near us with anything resembling the sweet perfume. He said it happened in an instant – as if Joanne walked past him from the front of the horse to the back of the horse and continued past him, after which, the amusement park aromas returned without a trace of Joanne’s perfume.

Suspiciously fast, the perfume scent was there one second and gone the next. Robby was rewarded for riding Joanne’s Horse, even when the ride attendant warned him that Joanne’s Horse didn’t go up and down.

I’ll never forget Robby’s face when Joanne walked between us.

It was a ride I’ll never forget.

I highly recommend the Ocean City Ghost Walk, so if you get the chance, say Hello to…

…the Saltwater Spirits

Spirits and Sneach at Virginia Beach

We had a rare treat when we took a mini-vacation to Virginia Beach. We arrived the day after a foot of snow had blanketed the city. Our three days were perfect as we were blessed with sunshine, mild temperatures and Sneach – Snow at the Beach. As Rob and I were chasing dolphins along the shoreline, Rob became tongue-tied trying to describe the snow, sand and beach. He blurted out, “Sneach”, which I think described it perfectly.

Besides Sneach, there were plenty of Spirits to be found at Virginia Beach. During our short stay we were able to take time out to do some Ghost Hunting (disguised as tourists) .

Prior to our visit, I read Haunted Virginia Beach by Alpheus J. Chewning. There is a chapter about the ghosts at the Old Coast Guard Museum. I asked the ladies working at the museum that day, Ruth and Marilin, if they had any experiences with ghosts in the museum and they had indeed. There were many tales, such as a man’s voice when no one was around.

This was the most active place that we toured, as far as photographic evidence. On our short day-time tour, I was able to capture many Orbs, and one Orb was particularly bright. The majority of the Orbs were at the entrance of the Museum, near the African-American wall of pictures. Each photo below is a different shot. There are multiple Orbs, and one especially bright Orb.

When I was taking the photos, I was drawn to the rocking chair. In the photo, there is an Orb next to the cannon, to the right of the rocking chair.

I would love to go back and explore the museum at night without all the noise and distractions, but I was pleased that the Spirits made themselves known through the photos.

They were also active on the Ghost Radar.

Old Cape Henry Lighthouse

Rob and the Old Cape Henry Lighthouse

This one was interesting because I couldn’t find a ghost story about this lighthouse, but there are many ghost stories in the surrounding area. I was anxious to see if we could find anything.

The ladies at the gift shop said there were no ghost stories about the lighthouse.

The challenge was on!

I got two things. One was a picture of an Orb above Rob’s right shoulder as he was going down the Lighthouse stairs. This was significant because it was day-time and there were many other tourists with us in the tight spaces. We didn’t have the time or space to do a lengthy investigation.

Lighthouse 1

Orb above Rob’s right shoulder as he climbs down the stairs of the lighthouse.

The second thing was more of a feeling that I had when we went to a park near the Lighthouse. Located on the base at Fort Story, there is a park with a statue of Francois Joseph Paul de Grasse. We had left the lighthouse and were exploring a bit, when we saw the park and a pier overlooking the beautiful shoreline. We enjoyed the view from the pier, Rob blew his new fog horn that we bought at the Lighthouse gift shop, but all the while I kept feeling drawn to the park area below and behind us. I had seen the statue, but only the back of it from the pier. There was too much snow to explore the park, but as I was returning to the car, I felt compelled to enter the park area to see the name on the statue. Despite the snow barrier and a lack of boots, Rob and I checked it out.

Prior to looking at the plaque on the statue, I kept feeling that there was fighting going on. I took pictures of the park thinking that there was a war and that a great battle was being fought. I could picture the scene of cannons being fired and I could hear the screams of wounded soldiers. The entire time that we were on the pier admiring the beauty of the ocean, I was drawn to the field behind me, almost as if I could hear the raging battle.

As Rob and I read the plaque at the base of the statue, my feelings made sense:

“This statue, a gift from France, is placed here overlooking the waters where Admiral Compte de Grasse successfully engaged the British fleet on September 5, 1781. The “Battle of the Capes” prevented crucial reinforcements from reaching Cornwallis, thus hastening his surrender.

Dedicated in grateful remembrance of the decisive contribution of Admiral de Grasse to the winning of American Independence.”

The continuing Battle of the Capes

2014-02-01 00.24.41

Statue of Admiral Compte de Grasse

Remember, I had never been to Fort Story before and there were no ghost tales about it during my brief research prior to the trip.

I could feel the battle, but I didn’t know anything about it, until I read the plaque.

I feel certain that we heard from Admiral de Grasse.

My findings are that there are Spirits that visit the Lighthouse and there is a battle still being fought that can be viewed from the Lighthouse.

Nauticus and the Battleship Wisconsin

This was by far the busiest place that we toured, so it was difficult to be alone and do a proper Ghost Hunt, but I did get another picture of an Orb above Rob while he sat in a command chair on the ship.

Like the picture of the Orb above Rob in the Lighthouse, I think this is a Spirit that protects Rob, so it might not be a Spirit that hangs out on the ship, but it’s hard to say.

Ship Orb

Cavalier Hotel

Unfortunately, this well-known haunted hotel was not open so we couldn’t explore inside, but we did walk around outside and we peeked in a few widows. One of the most famous ghosts to haunt this grand hotel is Adolph Coors, who founded the famous brewery. He was found dead on the grounds outside of his 6th floor room on June 5, 1929 and he is seen at the hotel, along with other previous guests.

This would be another fabulous place to explore at night.

Cavalier Hotel

This was only my second time at Virginia Beach. The first visit was a few years ago in the summer and it was beautiful, but I loved this trip because I’ve never seen snow at the beach and the place was deserted. It was the perfect peaceful get-away.

It was like a ghost town.
